The goal of Unity Day Camp is to provide the community of Malvern with safe and affordable summer programming; where children can grow confident, make friends and learn skills from their youth leaders.

Our camp program includes a mix of visual arts, dance, sports, educational and social games. We provide two delicious and healthy snacks, as well as an optional Pizza lunch on Fridays. An academic component helps keep the kids’ minds sharp while they’re not in school, and the optional faith-based component lets them engage in bible stories with questions of faith development, character, and values. The children also enjoy a variety of weekly field trips, plus a weekly trip to a local swimming pool.

How do I register?
Registration for Unity Day Camp is open and will continue accepting through the summer. You can drop off your camper’s registration form with the Camp Director from June 23 – 27 and June 30th from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. We will be accepting camper registration forms on the first day as well, if space permits. Register your child early so their is no disappointment!

Siblings in Christ,

It is with great joy I greet you today in the mighty name of Jesus. I hope this letter finds you well or will contribute to bring you wellness in the Same name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Few weeks ago, I sent you a letter for the “Homecoming Service”, inviting all of you to come to worship together. By doing so, I was grieved when I remembered some of you would not be able to make it because of illness. I knew you would love to come but your body would not cooperate, as it is written in Matthew 26,41 “the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”.  However, I rejoice because I know your spirit is always with us and your faith remains healthy. I pray that the Lord keep you in his favour. I congratulate and thank all of you who have come out that day to worship together, especially those we had not seen for a while, while we continue to pray for those who are sick or/and shut in.

Now we are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is celebrated in numerous countries around the world. The origin and the meaning are different, but they are all celebrating <<gratitude>>.  I am sending you this letter to invite you once again, as you do every year – and you know how to do it! Hats up! – to join with us to give thanks to the Lord on Sunday, October 13^th, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

The same way the origin and the meaning of Thanksgiving are different in the countries, the reasons of giving thanks to the Lord vary within us also. But the good thing is that everybody has a reason to be thankful for even amid sufferings: For the breath of life, your good health, your food; your home, your family, your friends, etc. Give thanks in all circumstances.

Beloved, as we are encouraged to give thanks in all circumstances, let us also show gratefulness in every way, by our songs of praise, our offerings, our acts of generosity, as the apostle eagerly encouraged the early Christians: “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God”

As you will gather with families and friends to celebrate, do not forget to make the Lord your first guest.

The Anglican Churches of Scarborough have banded together to provide mid-week ministry for children, youth and their families. Every Wednesday from  September 18 – October 23, The Church of the Nativity, Malvern will be hosting the Ignite Ministry evening program.

Children in grades 3 – 6 and youth in grades 7-10 are welcome to drop into our program. The program includes games, songs, snacks, crafts, activities all connected to our Bible Theme of the night. Older youth who assist in leading elements of the children’s program can have an opportunity in earning volunteer hours. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay as well for the Parents’ Cafe.

The Church of the Nativity Community Scholarship is awarded to young people of our community who will be attending a post secondary institute.

To qualify for an award, an applicant must satisfy the criteria below:

● Be from the Malvern Community or a parishioner of the Church of the Nativity
● Have achieved an overall standing of at least 75%
● Have been accepted into a post-secondary institution
● Have demonstrated leadership or mentorship qualities in their school or community
● Have demonstrated some degree of financial need

Required documents:
● Photocopy of High School Academic Transcript
● Photocopy of Post-Secondary Academic Transcript (if applicable)
● Acceptance letter from Post-Secondary Institution (for first year students)
● Letter(s) of Voluntary/Community Service from each organization
● Two letters of recommendation/reference
● Personal statement indicating the significance of being awarded a scholarship and how the applicant satisfies the eligibility criteria (maximum of 500 words)

Warden’s Corner: Summer 2024

• The 2024 Walkathon has been launched, our focus this year is the accessibility ramp. We want to encourage everyone to join us in this task of replacing another area of the church that has succumb to its age. Feel free to call the church and request a sheet so that your family and friends can help contribute to the life and ministry of the church, and continue to pray and ask God’s guidance as we embark on this journey together.
• Upgrades and repairs to the church continue. We look for grants from any and all sources to help facilitate these upgrades so that it’s not a burden on our parishioners. With God’s help, as mentioned above, we were able to completely revamp and upgrade our Audio and Visual systems which allows us better clarity within the service for those online and in person. We are working on the accessibility ramp, a barrier gate and a fence for our church property.
• Unity Day Camp has started for this year. Please contact us to enroll your young children and grandchildren in a worthwhile summer program. Download our registration form online right here on our website. DON’T MISS OUT!!!
• In case you missed it, our Outreach committee organized this year’s picnic on the church lawn with the view of accommodating the community. This was a huge success.

Dear friends in Christ, it is Summer and the weather is HOT HOT HOT!!!!

School is over for the season and the teachers get a break to take vacation. Students go to camp, friends host BBQ gatherings, families and friends tend to travel to visit relatives and friends. It is an exciting time of the year when we take a moment for ourselves so we can enjoy the summer and prepare ourselves  to be ready for the lovely Canadian cold in the Fall/Winter.

It is also important to allow ourselves some time to rejoice and rejuvenate. Let everyone do what makes them happy. This is a way to avoid and fight stress, anxiety and illness.

While we go on vacation and relax, we think of our sisters and brothers who are suffering, and those who are shut in and can’t navigate the nice weather and the beauty of the nature.  As a community of faith, we believe a day is coming where we will be all rejoicing in the love of God.

We are glad to share with you, some achievements and what is going on at our church from January to date.

• We have seen our congregation grow even though we still suffer from some of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The average attendance in person on Sundays is about one hundred (100) parishioners. This includes welcoming new members and families to the church from time to time.
• We assure that the connection is kept with our church family by visits, phone calls or both.
• We have upgraded our audiovisual system within the last little while to facilitate those who cannot join us in person and allows them to participate in the service without any issues.
• The Men’s and Women’s ministry recently honoured some of the seniors/elders of the church, and many more activities within the different ministries.
• We continue to move ourselves and our minds into a more prayerful church focusing on our work and each other. As a result, and accordingly to the spiritual renewal launched in the diocese earlier this year, we have started a weekday service on Wednesdays. Every Wednesday at noon, with the Eucharist every other Wednesday, this new ministry has seen an increase of participants. In this service we share reflections on the readings, testimonies and we pray for each other, the church and the world.

Summer is just around the corner, and the Church of the Nativity, Malvern is thrilled to announce the return of our beloved Unity Day Camp! Running from July 2nd to August 16, this full-day summer camp offers an enriching and fun-filled experience for children in the Malvern community. The camp will be running from  7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays). Unity Day Camp is the perfect place for kids to spend their summer days.
